Coconut theft a though nut to crack

Funny Barbados News BlogA SMALL FARMER has had enough of young men stealing from him and wants the police to do something about it.... He said he was not always around the more than four acres of land in Foster Hall, St John, to see when thieves came, but his family had witnessed the theft of his labour. "I went down in the ground and saw that they picked the coconuts from all the trees and left the husks right there. I check my grounds every day. . . . About 50 trees out there on the grounds and all the coconuts gone," he told the DAILY NATION yesterday. Hackett said he was at his wits' end because he did not want to use violence to stop the thieves. "I have signs posted that this is private property but they still picking, even out of the same trees with the signs. I really want something done about this. I don't want to get hurt and I don't want to hurt anybody," he stressed. He added that as recently as Friday he called the police with the licence plate number of the vehicle the thieves used, but no one had followed up on the matter. Police at District "C" Station said yesterday they "had no information about the situation". (TM)Source: Nation News
Dem police gine wait til that farmer chop loose somebody head, and den charge he for murder one. Man is a law abiding citizen, trying to go through the proper channels to resolve a matter and the police turning dem back. Typical anyhow, dem does wait til something happen then come to write the report. Talkng about how dem aint know about de matter... yuh mean that the Nation is the first person de man call? Man i would wait til one of them climb and play dem picking, then set some rottweilers at the bottom of the tree. I aint calling de police nuttin.. leave them up there to stew for a few days. But the thing is that bajans feel that every coconut tree dem see is free for de picking. Boy the long arm of the law seems to have been reduced to the size of a Chinese's member. If it was somebody limes getting theif in the terraces, dem woulda got the place stake out long time... in fact, no need for that, the upper class owner woulda done put 2 copper shots in the theives boxy.. only to find that the poor person was just trying to retreive a cricket ball that he hit for six... shame. What? I can't spell tough in the title? not me boh.. i copy that straight from the Nation! :|

*After reading this post, 82 persons will remember the days dem used to pelt rocks at mangoes and golden apples. 78 of them will remember an old woman pelting hot pee pon dem, then allowing the mangoes in the tree to rot way anyhow.
