Accusations of mail tampering

Funny Barbados News BlogThe Barbados postal service is launching an investigation into allegations that mail destined for Guyana is being opened here. The accusation has been made by Howard Lorimer, Public Relations Officer of the Guyana Post Office Corporation. While not giving figures, Mr. Lorimer says the G.P.O.C. is concerned about the number of breached mail coming out of Barbados. He says customers have been complaining of money missing from letters sent by relatives in Barbados. Post Master General of Barbados Joel Brathwaite says he's not been officially contacted regarding the issue but given the statement from the G.P.O.C. official, he will be investigating the matter.
He added that concerns about tampered mail were raised in the past and measures were put in place to deal with the situation. Meantime, the G.P.O.C. is advising Guyanese living in Barbados to use money transfer agencies when sending money home.

Who sends money in the post? That's like sending your son to pick up your HIV results or allowing your wife to answer your cell phone... just too risky. Sending cash in the post is even illegal in some countries... the way I see it, it should be mandatory to search suspect packages and confiscate any cash found, and the persons sending cash should be charged for being retarded. All that happen is that they are doing it on the sly, and if they go through the bank or an agency, dem gine leave a paper trail and get caught out when they provide a passport that expired in 2000. I does can't even get $2US from the bank without showing a plane ticket or a pint of blood to convince them why i want to take money out of the island, yet still we are entertaining concerns that Guyanese can't ship undeclared money out of Barbados in peace. Well based on this, then drug pushers might as well stop transporting contraband in women with fat flossies, and just put the cocaine in an envelope.

*After reading this post, 3 persons will report that along with money, they are also smuggling fresh water and reliable electricity out of the island... shameful.
