Beach facilities for Brownes Beach

Funny Barbados News BlogAnother controversy could be brewing as one of the most popular beaches in Barbados is set to receive a state of the art bath facility. Brownes Beach in Bay Street the city has been earmarked for a project costing nearly four hundred thousand dollars. The National Conservation Commission has embarked on a programme to develop a number of public beach facilities around the island and according to Environment Minister Liz Thompson it is bearing fruit. She says that the programme has so far been able to double the number of lifeguard stations and says that Brownes Beach is about to join the list of those to receive a facelift. Ms. Thompson says that while she is bracing for the controversy that she believes the new bath will cause, since like the one at Silver Sands it will cost near four hundred thousand dollars to construct, she is certain that the reasons for its expense are justifiable.

Of course it is justifiable... i'm sure a lot of big shot men can justify why dem does be driving through Bush Hill behind the Garrison after 10pm too... they are umm.. buying bread from err.. de amm... well, maybe they can't justify it afterall. What kind of budget does government really have for showers, and is there not a better way to spend that money... oops.. of course there is, how about forty thousand $100 lunches at the Savannah Hotel? I would like to see a comparative break down of why it would cost nearly half million dollars to build showers. Wuh yuh could build 6 of those $60,000 houses on the same beach for that money, complete with bath, toilet, kitchen and bedrooms, put in MCTV and get a parrow to plant a little aloes garden with the money that leff back. At least with bedrooms, there won't be too many condoms on the beach for the NCC to pick up when the mornings come. I guess showers are extremely important to everyone, even if the beach is toxic, the people should always be able to wash the sewerage off after a lil' dip. But you know how it is, we does talk about these things, and dem does go ahead and do it anyway. Is there no way the public can stop this, or any avenue where we can raise our concerns? Or maybe jobby slinging device, so we can splat somebody to make a point. Not like those talky talky call in programs where we talk and talk and then lay down to let government decide where dem gine poke de shaft. No Transparency! Why the cost? No wait, i getting too political boh, i gine hold off and let the Barbados Free Press ask dem questions. They seem to be very intimate with her drinking habits. Oh well, at least it doesn't get any worse than this showers issue... what? "Barbados Flyover Costs to Soar"... oops.. tell a lie.

*After reading this post, 21 persons will wonder how come all these new state of the art showers going up, when the facilities at Pebbles beach look like the U*S suspected that it was storing weapons of mass destruction, or maybe it took a hunting trip with Dic *k Che* ney.
