Lashes for 'wasteful' Bajans
So you are suggesting that an Alma Parris student sit next to an HC student and learn Algebra? Fantastic, and I guess Patrick Gollop should train with OBA for the olympics. The problem isn't the fact that you bundle a bunch of 11 year old under achievers in the same place... it is that you want to teach them in the same EXACT way as you teach someone who got marks for QC. It's like trying to have intimate physical relations with a nerd... it's not that he is not capable of secular pleasure, but he just prefers to get off with a mouse in his hand and a web camera. It really isn't a case of who is 'smart' or 'stupid'. We all understand things and learn differently. When someone passes for Combermere, all that means is that they are more receptive to the type of teaching done in bajan primary schools... more so than the guy who passes to a Bursary. And of course if the idea is that it is YOU who has FAILED when you pass to certain schools, then that is how you will behave. We need to get some teachers trained to teach those who don't understand subjects using the traditional teaching methods. That said, there are some real idiots out there... they should all be beaten with a bamboo and then made to mow my lawn.EDUCATION is being squandered.... "Rather than cherish the tremendous privilege we have here in Barbados to be able to access free education to tertiary level, we are betraying our forefathers and disrespecting the supreme sacrifices they made to ensure that this country would stand tall among the community of nations through our exceptional educational system."... "Rather than concentrate students with a lower Common Entrance mark
all in the same place, allocate a mix so that those with the lower mark constantly see in their midst a significant number of students who endeavour to succeed – that is utilising peer pressure for a positive result." Source:
