Book aims to combat illegal dumping
What "Timmy Turtle and the Litterbugs" what! Dem need to read "Harry HardLash and the Bull Pistle". Men reason the book for primary schol children... was it a 5 year old driving the dump truck?? Amm.. no.. it was a big hard back man. He aint want no book, he want stripping and beating with a tamarind rod while being forced to remove all the nut shells on Swan Street. Sweet island like Barbados and people littering.. schuuuuupes. It is the smaller littering that does eat me out though. Sweetie wrappers and cigarrette butts in public plant pots, disgusting. But this "petty" littering, if there is such a thing, is one of those things where you would have to catch the person in the act. As dem drop it.. WHACKS! Tek it up man, and further more, put on this jacket marked "I'M A NASTY IDIOT" and pick up everything else that get littered bout hey. You just gotta hire one or 2 persons to do it every Friday and Saturday in Bridgetown, and pay them $2 out of each $50 fine. You just can't lose. Even those Bridgetown traffic wardens who everybody already hate could be given the job. But alas, we dont really want to solve these problems. Barbados small enough... if you get catch dumping, you should be publicly humiliated so everybody can see you, skin up dem face and remember how nasty and disgraceful you are, not get fined behind closed doors where nobody knows about it. The same man in the article who was found, his name aint even get call, but if he did SUSPECTED of child rape, his face woulda been plastered all across the newspapers without him ever being charged.... poor Bellhouse...Timmy Turtle and the litterbugs is the name of a book being launched to sensitize Barbadian children to the dangers of littering. Copies of the book were handed out to students and representatives of several primary schools across the island. The aim is to make them more aware of the environment and teach them how they can protect it. Author, Susan Haynes-Elcock, says the issue of illegal dumping hit home recently when she received a call saying items belonging to her had been found at an illegal dumpsite. Though the person contracted to dispose of the items was eventually found, Mrs. Haynes-Elcock said she also had a responsibility in the matter. Source: CBC Channel 8
