LIAT VITAL TO CWC, CSME

Funny Barbados News BlogFor the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007, a regional carrier such as LIAT is going to be extremely important....
In addressing the recent challenges being experienced in the area of air transportation and, specifically, the issues raised recently in relation to LIAT, Grant commented that while Government will offer support to the carrier where it can, decisions on the commercial viability of the carrier ultimately rest in the hands of LIAT's board of Directors. Noting that the Government of Barbados has recently invested US$10 million in the airline, he pointed out the fact that this has increased the shareholding of the Government in that entity.
"In an island such as Barbados, if we don't have airlift you are a prisoner in your island ... because airlift is a critical success factor in the development of our tourism sector," the Senator noted. Source:
Why is it that airlines just seem to fail? I tell you man, if we gotta depend on Liat for this CWC, we might as well hazzard a swim to the different CWC islands... it's simply less risky. The man reason "in an island like Barbados if you dont have airlift you are a prisoner on the island." Firstly, there is something called a boat. I mean it may not be as effecient and fast, but you certainly won't be a 'prisoner'. At any rate being a prisoner on Barbados is like you are part of a reality show. Enjoy the beach, the sun and the sea, but make sure you dont get too caught up and end up buying a piece of Aloes for US$50.00, or you will be eliminated and flown from paradise back to your God forsaken excuse for a homeland. Makes me laugh when people overstate the issue to make a point. Like saying, you shouldn't smoke in public because you only take in 25% of the toxic gases, while others inhale the other 75%. Well that is nice to know that NONE of the cigarette fumes are lost in the atmosphere and that ALL are sucked up by anyone within a 5 mile radius. Depending on local airlines is just to risky man. Flew to London on BWIA and got there practically a day late... who knows, if I arrived on time, I may have caught my girlfriend cheating... well I suppose what you don't know cant hurt... right? right?

*After reading this post, 58,439 persons will recall a time that LIAT was late and screwed them dearly. They will however still fly LIAT only to punch themselves in the kidneys when it is LATE yet again.
