LIAT Pilots Stage Sickout, Strand Customers

Funny Barbados Liat AirlineBRIDGETOWN, Barbados (AP) - Pilots for the struggling Caribbean airline LIAT staged a sickout Wednesday, stranding hundreds of passengers throughout the region, the company said.
All but a handful of pilots took part in the job action, forcing LIAT to cancel a majority of 100 scheduled flights, Commercial Director Lesroy Browne said by phone from Antigua, where the company is based. It was unknown when normal operations would resume, Browne said.Source:moneycentral.msn.com
well, suffice to say that if there was a news report everytime Liat (or any of these disgusting Caribbean airlines) left passengers stranded, there would probably be a daily publication the size of an encyclopedia. I like to support Caribbean companies, but when a BWEE flight to London can leave 12 hours late without so much as a pack of teatimes for compensation, then fly me on an old musty carrier called World Airways which did NOT have a personal TV screen so I can choooose what I want to watch... I does be vex.. vex vex vex! Yet still does want to charge the same money (or higher) as British Airways and Virgin! (plus BWEE, after 8 horrific hours of flying, never gave me one of those cute little draw-string bag yet! *embarassed face... thank you Virgin*). If only they were good caribbean airlines, i would fly them all the time and even sing that little song... "... in the foreign airport still to beeee... you know that you're home when you see.. B-W-I-A *West Indies Airways*...." tsk tsk tsk... sad
