FTC imposes fees for poor service

Funny Barbados News BlogCustomers of Cable and Wireless and the Barbados Light and Power Company will be entitled to compensation if these service providers fail to meet standards set out by the Fair Trading Commission....The FTC says this system of guaranteed standards will ensure that affected consumers receive monetary compensation when the service providers fail to live up to agreed targets in categories such as fault repair and service installation.
For example, if a Cable and Wireless residential customer does not have the service within 15 days of applying for it, the company has to refund the installation fee but still install the service.
If a customer of Light and Power does not have his service restored within 12 hours of a power failure, then he's entitled to a payment of 45 dollars and an additional 45 dollars for each day that he is without electricity. Source:
Wow!... I mean.. WOW! This is a step forward.. my my my! If this was available back when I was trying to get these services, I would own a Bently! I would barely wait til rainy season to install a phone... oh.. you are late because of rain? OH WELL... such is life. It's about time tho, I mean it has been years... YEEEAAAAAAAARS since these blood sucking leeches have been servicing the bajan public with landlines.... yeeeeeaaars. That, plus Barbados peeny peeny, and STILL people could be hearing.. oh.. there are no lines available in your area. How you mean no lines available.. so what now? I gotta wait til somebody dead and give up theirs before I can make a phone call? And what about when you go to apply for a new phone for an apartment you just moved in to. They ask you "What is the last telephone number of the apartment?" Umm.. me and de body was friends? I have NO *$&@*# idea!
How about putting a limit on how long you have to hold on when you calling Cable & Wireless. For each minute over 5 minutes, you win a 7 day Luxury Caribbean Cruise! But remember too the FTC is run by bajans.. so although you may be entitled to get monetary compensation, by the time it is actually delivered, it gine only benefit your grandchildren.

*After reading this post, 8,984 Light & Power customers will lose electricty in their homes. After grinning for 3 days and adding up the compensation coppers, they will get a red notice saying their were disconnect due to arrears.
