Digi to layoff some Cingular staff

There will be some layoffs in Barbados coming out of the Digicel take-over of the American cell phone provider, Cingular wireless. The Irish-owned Digicel has given notice to some of the workers, saying it will retain more than half of the 32 full-time Cingular wireless employees. In a move that surprised some of the Cingular workers the company gave them verbal notice that they would be severed under the new arrangement. However at a breakfast session earlier this month Digicel had assured them their continued employment would be part of the takeover. Just another case of Digicel putting their foot in their mouth... retain all de workers what! Maybe they were genuine, but after interviewing de unmarley, hard mout rats, they changed their mind. I like to see this sort of thing happening, shows the interview process seems to be in good working order. You know sometimes you butt a person behind a counter getting on like dem mek demself, and yuh does wonder how de france they got the job and what said in their interview?

Employer: So, are you customer friendly?
Employee: Castahmers? Wuh I k something bout dem? Look, i hey to make some friends and laff hard hear? If i get chance, i gine deal wid one or 2 people dat come in, but dem better don't cut off none uh my conversations about my man or what I does do on weekends. And if dem look at me bad, i gine light up in duh skin. Feel i easy?
Employer: Ok.. do you have any ambition or experience.
Employee: Nope.. very sorry... i just intend to show up at work to get paid. Anything involving going an extra mile aint got nuttin to do wid me... even the first mile is out of the question. But i know if i stick in there, after about 10 years or so I will get a mandatory promotion cuz that is tings does operate in buhbadus.
Employer: Do you have a knowledge of our products.
Employee: Tell de truth, I never even hear bout this company yet, but that don't matter. If dem ask me anything and i aint know, I AINT KNOW. Can't do nuttin bout dat... dem is who buying it, dem should know. Wuh I would only be working there, not MAKING the stuff. You like you mekking sport at this ting yuh.
Employer: GREAT! You're hired! See you on monday.
Employee: That gine gotta be Tuesday though, I gine in town Monday and lime with my friends.. ehheh.. you know how it is.

*After reading this post, 18 of the 19 persons retained by Digicel will be axed... I suppose the interview process doens't tell you everything after all. In all fairness, they will be the victims... believing that they could get on like C&W's "Sharon" and become "Pop-Pu-LAr"
