CRICKET has a new super star

The cheerful, dynamic, boyish mascot for the 2007 International Cricket Council's World Cup (CWC), became "human" yesterday afternoon at a colourful, fun-filled launch at the historic Jamaica College in Kingston. Dressed in a tropical styled shirt, cargo pants, wearing a big gold chain and carrying a bat, Mello arrived shortly before 4 p.m. to the music of Rally Round The West Indies. One Mello. What? Who is he? Isn't he the 13th letter in the Kiddies Alphabet? ABCDEFGHIJK-Ello Mello P, QRS....! No? He mussy that savoury orange margarine you put in the gravy... Mello-Kreem. Come on man.. he HAS to be that soft sexy music on the radio station... Mello Mood. Well, to me he looks like an abused hamster on the wacky tabacky. What he gotta go wid cricket, and where does the gold chain fit in? They might as well had a naked man as the mascott. He got a bat, 2 balls and represents the totally shameful state of WI cricket these days, plus it was save a bundle on costumes. Of course it was created outside the Caribbean, because we need others to tell us what we are like. But that's our culture, complain, but do nothing about it. The designers probably sat down and said, as a cruel joke, we will put this monster out, just to buy us some time while we actually use creativity and develop the real thing. :-o What? they accepted it? Wow.. great.. Well in that case, for the Logo then we have created this mystical black DOT, do you think they will like it?
