Barbados receives middle ranking in destination survey

In a recent survey of sustainable tourism in 115 destinations around the world, the magazine National Geographic Traveller gave Barbados a ranking of 75th. One of only 13 Caribbean countries included in the survey, Barbados received warnings for environmental conditions and tourism management. The magazine sought to examine the impact of development, pollution and mass tourism on these popular destinations.
It evaluated an entire destination, weighing aesthetic appeal and cultural integrity through a panel of 200 experts in a variety of fields, including sustainable tourism, urban planning and travel writing. The six criteria were environmental and ecological quality, social and cultural integrity, condition of historic buildings and archaeological sites, aesthetic appeal, quality of tourism management and the outlook for the future.

75th eh? Hmmm.. i wonder why.. could it be the GOLF COURSES popping up all over the place? Or the myriads of hotels on the beach front, pushing the small house owners to head for the hills.. part gabby is man? Dah beach is mine!
